Jo Kendrick, RNC, MSN, CDE

Jo Kendrick is the Coordinator of the Perinatal Diabetes Program.  She is a certified diabetes educator and also a women’s health nurse practitioner. She serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Graduate School of Medicine for the University of Tennessee, Adjunct clinical Instructor for the University of Tennessee College of Nursing, and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Vanderbilt School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee.  She is a member of the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA).  

Ms. Kendrick has served as a consultant for the AWHONN Consulting Group and on the editorial board of the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing. She currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing and as a reviewer for the American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing and Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved and for the international journal, Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice. She has published extensively with multiple chapters, journal articles and abstracts in the area of women’s health and diabetes and presents locally, nationally and internationally. She is the author of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th edition of the March of Dimes nursing education module Diabetes in Pregnancy. She has received numerous teaching and research awards. She also has developed a core curriculum for perinatal diabetes management and didactic series for the obstetric and gynecology residents at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville.
